Crock Pot smothered pork chops are a family favorite and this recipe is especially easy because it uses the crock pot. Serve over egg noodles or mashed potatoes for a delicious dinner the whole family will love!

This Saucy Little Number Is a Winner.
I’m a sucker for a crockpot recipe and these smothered pork chops in the crockpot? Major win, whether you’re looking for a summer dinner (no turning on the oven!) or cozy winter comfort food.
This is one of those recipes that just works.
You know the kind – when you need dinner to basically make itself while you handle everything else life throws at you. These crockpot smothered pork chops are ridiculously simple, but they taste like you spent way more time on them than you actually did. <— My favorite.
I make these on repeat because they’re always a hit with my family. Just like my crockpot ranch pork chops, this recipe is all about maximum flavor with minimal effort. The gravy makes itself right in the slow cooker with the pork chops, so you basically just dump everything in there and go live your life.
3 Reasons You’ll Love This Recipe
It’s crazy simple. Everything goes into one pot, and the gravy creates itself as it cooks. No stirring, no babysitting, no stress.
Budget-friendly comfort food. Pork chops are an affordable cut that turns incredibly tender in the slow cooker, and you probably have most of the other ingredients already.
Family-friendly winner. This hits that sweet spot of being comforting enough for adults but mild enough that kids will actually eat it too.

Slow Cooker Pork Chops Ingredients:

Cream of Chicken Soup – You could easily swap this out for cream of mushroom soup if you prefer!
Chicken Broth – Homemade or the kind from a can. Either work!
Onion Soup Mix – This adds a nice pop of flavor and seasons everything to perfection.

Bone-In Pork Chops
How To Make Smothered Pork Chops Recipe:

Mix: Combine the cream of chicken soup, chicken broth, garlic, and onion soup mix in the bottom of your slow cooker and give it a good stir.

Pork: Pop your pork chops right on top and flip them around to coat them in the sauce.
Cook: Cover and cook on high for 3 hours or low for 6 hours. Remove the pork chops, whisk the gravy together, and add the pork chops right back in.
What to serve with crockpot pork chops:
I serve these over our Amish egg noodles or some Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes! These are also tasty served with our rice pilaf.
My green beans and bacon recipe is always a hit.
These roasted vegetables go with everything.
For dessert, I suggest my brownies or blackberry cobbler.

I made this recipe for dinner tonight, and everyone loved it. One thing I will probably do differently next time is use boneless pork chops because, although it was great that the meat was so tender that it fell off the bone, we had little bone pieces we had to watch out for in the gravy. I’ll probably also use the low sodium version of the cream of chicken soup since my husband has to reduce the sodium in his diet. Thank you for sharing your recipe!

I made this last night and it was so good. The pork chops were a little dry but all and all it was delish!!! Super easy, super cheap and the family loved it. Will be making it again. Thanks 🙂

I am trying this for tonight’s dinner. Looks and smells really yummy already and just started it lol. Hope it will come out well. My man loves anything pork!! Thank you for this recipe. I think when I make again I may try cream of mushroom soup in place of the cream of chicken soup and add 1/2 cup of beef broth with the onion soup mix and maybe add some mushrooms too. Don’t mean to tweak your recipe but a do that sometimes to switch things up. Thank you for this recipe, was a life saver today.
Melissa Hyde says
Penny, I have made pork chops with cream of mushroom and golden mushroom (no onion soup mix though) both are wonderful. I get more raves with the golden mushroom.
Karly- is it the texture of the mushrooms? You might try golden mushroom soup, the flavor is great and the mushroom pieces are big so you can pick them out, or strain with a slotted spoon. They are slices, not pieces like in the white soup. And it tastes nothing like mushrooms.
Karly says
This is so lame of me, but it’s the IDEA of mushrooms. They’re fungus. Ew. (Sometimes I’m such a child.) 😉 Thanks for the tip though!
Carla Skidmore says
LOL, Karly, I am with you on oysters and bleu cheese. I have tried each one and I just do not like them, either, I felt that way about mushrooms, until I tried them, and found that I really liked them. “Try ’em, you might like ’em.” : – ) : – )
Karly says
I’ve tried them and they do taste okay. It’s more of a mind thing for me – they’re fungus and it grosses me out! Haha!
Nancy says
How much chicken broth should be used? Thanks
Vickie says
LOL I can totally agree with you on mushrooms and blue cheese. You are not alone! Oysters are in their too!! Something that slimy doesn’t need to be in my mouth!
Karly says
Yessss! No oysters, ever.
Carla Skidmore says
Vickie, LOL, I completely agree on the blue cheese (to me it smells like old socks), and the oysters, no slimy things for me, either. I do, however, love mushrooms, usually the big white mushrooms or a grilled portabella mushroom in a sandwich. I eat them when I am in a restaurant, I do not serve the portabella mushrooms at home as my husband tolerates the white mushrooms, but would balk at the large portabella mushrooms.
Christina Fowler Clement says
Can I had rice to this while cooking?
Karly says
You would probably need to add additional liquid and time it so that the rice and pork were done at the same time. I haven’t experimented with this myself.
Anthony Allen says
Made this for dinner tonight, and my wife loved it! Can’t wait for your next recipe.
Karly says
So glad it was a hit!
Audrey says
Could I substitute chicken thighs – how long to cook if I do.
Karly says
I’m sure you could. I would guess the cook time would be about the same.
Shannon says
I’ve made it numerous times with boneless chicken breast. Same cook time turned out great!
Kay Burros says
Best chops , my family raved about…..and my friends want the recipe…………..
Karly says
So glad you enjoyed!

Yet another food blog with waaay too many photos. Also, I see Sodium 2048mg. That is a nearly lethal dose of sodium for *anyone*, let alone those on a sodium-restricted diet. Sorry, no sale.
Karly says
Thanks for the feedback.
Elizabeth says
Fritz: That’s what tends to happen when recipes have canned soup, onion soup “mix” and chicken broth….all 3 very high in sodium.
Denise says
If u don’t care for a recipe or a website then don’t use it. No need to spread your negativity.Â
Carla Skidmore says
Denise was not “spreading negativity,” she was stating a fact. Some chicken and beef broths are high in sodium which makes them ill-suited for someone on a low sodium diet. Fortunately, most supermarkets do carry low-sodium broths and soups.
Carla Skidmore says
Fritz, some folks tend to spill too much sodium, and need to increase their sodium intake. Your doctor will be the one to advise you on that issue.
I love the photos of the various recipes, it gives me an idea of how the dish will or should look.
Brendan says
Could I add veg to slow cooker if so what would you recommend carrots onion potato ?
Karly says
I haven’t tried adding anything else in with this. It should work fine, though it will likely change the flavor of the gravy and make it more runny due to the liquid the vegetables release as they cook.
Carla says
I add onions to everything, well, almost anything, especially stew, pot roast, and soups. Carrots are great, too, but do take longer to cook if you like then soft. Potatoes, too, take time, but you can test both with a fork and cook until it is to your liking.
If you do not have to limit your sodium intake. I am one of those odd folks who need to increase my sodium intake. A boxed onion soup mix makes a good flavoring to stew or pot roast, especially if you dislike cutting up onions and can tolerate the high sodium content.
Onion soup mix makes a great flavoring for meatloaf, although I do not use a crockpot for meatloaf, I bake that in my oven.
Charlene Minjarez says
love! BUT the sodium content is a bit much!
Karly says
You can use reduced sodium cream of chicken or try making your own to help reduce it a bit.
Caroline Rawa says
Made this with 5 thick, boneless pork chops. It was really delicious. I took the chops out to a platter and covered with foil to keep them warm, then I turned the crock pot to “high” for about 10 minutes to help thicken the gravy. Will definitely be making this again. Thanks for the recipe!
Evelynne says
Loved the recipe. Simple but tasty. Instead of 2 cans of cream of chicken though, I only put 1 and it was perfect. We ended up serving it over rice for my husband and spaghetti for me and it tasted great!
eric soprano says
we used a little flour to thichen the gravy up perfect!!!
