3 Reasons You’ll Love This Baked Salmon and Asparagus
- It’s truly one-pan easy. Salmon and asparagus cook at the same time, so you get your protein and vegetables without juggling multiple dishes or timing anything complicated.
- The honey garlic sauce works magic. Sweet honey balances the garlic perfectly, and it makes everything taste way more flavorful than plain baked fish.
- Quick but feels special. Fifteen minutes in the oven and you have a dinner that looks and tastes like you spent way more effort on it.
Ingredient Notes:

Salmon – There are a few varieties of salmon and any of them will work. The fresher the better! I’d also recommend leaving the skin on. It’ll help to keep the fish from overcooking and drying out while it bakes.
Asparagus – The flavors in the salmon pair perfectly with this green veggie!
Honey – Use your favorite brand of honey! We like local honey the best but any kind will work for the honey garlic sauce.
Butter – Along with the honey you’ll need some melted butter for this sauce.
Garlic – Plenty of minced garlic will add lots of flavor to the dish!
Seasoning – You’ll need some minced parsley, onion powder, red pepper flakes, salt, and cracked pepper. The red pepper won’t make this too spicy, it’s just a little kick to balance out the sweet honey.
Lemon – You’ll need some fresh slices of lemon to place over the salmon filets before baking. The lemon juice will enhance the flavors of the salmon.
How to Make Baked Salmon and Asparagus:

Prepare: To get started preheat your oven to 450. While it heats up you can spray a large rimmed baking sheet with some non-stick spray and place each of the salmon filets skin side down in the center of the sheet.
Leave some space between each filet and then arrange the asparagus along the outside of the baking sheet around the filets of salmon.
Honey Garlic Sauce: Add melted butter, honey, garlic, parsley, onion powder, and red pepper flakes to a bowl and whisk together until combined.
Season: Brush the sweet and savory sauce over the salmon and asparagus. Gently toss the asparagus to coat it in the mixture.
Bake: Sprinkle salt and pepper and top each salmon filet with a slice of lemon. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until the salmon flakes easily and the asparagus is tender crisp.
Serve the honey garlic salmon and asparagus immediately after removing from the oven.

Swaps & Tips
Budget-friendly option: This works great with other fish like cod or tilapia if salmon isn’t in the budget. Just adjust cooking time since thinner fillets cook faster.
Vegetable swaps: Broccoli, green beans, or Brussels sprouts work well instead of asparagus. Cut them to similar sizes so everything cooks evenly.
Make it heartier: Add some quartered baby potatoes to the pan. They’ll need about 10 extra minutes, so start them first.
Sauce variations: Swap the honey for maple syrup, or add a splash of soy sauce for more depth.
Keep the skin on: If your salmon has skin, leave it on the bottom. It helps prevent the fish from drying out and makes it easier to flip if needed.
Don’t overcook: Salmon is done when it flakes easily with a fork. Better to check early than end up with dry fish.
Serving Suggestions:
This tasty sheet pan salmon and asparagus has your main dish and side all in one! We love easy meals like that. However, we also like to round out the meal with a starch…here are a few favorites:
Storage
Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheat gently in the oven at 300°F or in the microwave on reduced power.
The asparagus will be softer after reheating but still tasty.
This doesn’t freeze well – fish texture changes too much.
