Ranch potatoes roasted in your air fryer or oven! Both methods are so easy and the seasoning on these potatoes is divine!
Would you like to save this?
Okay, guys, curious to hear how many of you have air fryers?
I just got one a couple of months ago and I think I might have an air fryer addiction.
I swear, I drag the thing out DAILY.
I normally keep my most used appliances out on the counter (my KitchenAid, food processor, and Instant Pot), but I just don’t think I have the space to add another appliance to my counter tops without it feeling super cluttered. I might just swap out the Instant Pot for the air fryer – I certainly use it more lately!
Curious to hear which you guys use more often – the Instant Pot or the air fryer? Or do you just stick your stove and oven? 😉
For those curious, this is the air fryer I have (affiliate link). I really love it! It holds a lot of food!
Anyway, these air fryer potatoes are roasted to perfection in just 20 minutes, which I freaking love. The outsides get a bit crisp and the insides are all soft and pillowy.
My ranch seasoning is homemade, but don’t let that scare you – it’s just a few herbs and spices that any well stocked kitchen would have on hand!
I think you’re going to love these air fryer roasted potatoes!
How to make air fryer potatoes:
First up, you’ll want to wash and halve 1 1/2 pounds of small yukon gold potatoes.
Drizzle them with some oil. I am a big fan of avocado oil lately. It’s a neutral oil that can withstand high temperatures making it perfect for roasting. I use this brand (affiliate link).
Next, start dumping on the seasoning. We’re using a blend of garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, chives, parsley, dill, and salt. Simple, but tasty.
Stir your potatoes and pop them in your preheated air fryer for 20 minutes. You’ll want to shake the basket every 5 minutes for even cooking.
So simple and the texture is perfect!
How to roast potatoes in the oven:
To make these ranch potatoes in the oven, you’ll follow the same steps as above, but instead of using an air fryer place your potatoes on a large rimmed sheet pan.
Roast at 400 degrees for about an hour, stirring 3 or 4 times throughout cooking.
Roasting potatoes in the oven takes quite a bit longer than using an air fryer, but they come out just as delicious!
What to serve with roasted potatoes:
Turkey Meatloaf: Meatloaf + roasted potatoes is a classic!
Slow Cooker Ribs: The most tender ribs ever!
Crockpot BBQ Chicken: Shredded chicken on a bun!
French Dip: This sandwich is a favorite!
Stuffed Chicken Breast: Stuffed with cheese and spinach!

Totally feel you on not wanting another appliance. But, my readers have been asking for more air fryer recipes, so I thought it might be worth trying and I’m so glad I did! I really love mine! ๐

I just purchased the new ninja foodie. Itโs a combo pressure cooker, air fryer, dehydrator etc. I am obsessed ?

Your potatoes look amazing! I can’t wait to try your recipe tonight! I love the way you wrote your recipe for both oven and AF! Thank you for sharing!

Can I substitute olive oil for the avocado oil for baking these in the oven?
Karly says
Yes, that should work fine. ๐

i have AF that my sister got me i don’t like it it dries out the food i have cooked chicken and french fries in it and now it sit in my spare room
Karly says
Are you sure you’re using it properly? It’s just a mini convection oven, so it shouldn’t dry things out if you’re using the correct temperature and time. ๐
Kelly says
Go on YouTube and watch a couple of videos . I was of the same mind set as you and then everyone was loving theirs so I investigated and now I love mine and have stopped overcooking everything ! Good luckย

I really need an air fryer!
Karly says
You do! I got one because readers were asking for recipes, but I actually like it myself. ๐

Use my air fryer practically every day! Steaks are my go to and they turn out perfectly.
Can you make these potatoes with sweet potatoes instead?
Karly says
I haven’t tried sweet potatoes in the air fryer yet, so I’m not sure how long they’d need to cook. Otherwise, I imagine they’d work fine. ๐
Steak is on my list of things to try – just seems so strange to me!

Mmmmm love those crispy brown bits! I just bought an air fryer ~ can’t wait to try these potatoes!

I have neither an air fryer nor an Instant pot. I managed to raise 3 kids without any electric appliances except a toaster and a hand mixer. But I have never been one to jump on the fad bandwagon.
Karly says
I think we could all raise our kids just fine without these appliances, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t useful. New products are developed all the time and they may see like a fad at first, but I believe the Instant Pot will withstand the test of time – it’s just an electric (and safer) version of a pressure cooker and those have been around for ages. I’m not sure if the air fryer popularity will last but I am loving mine either way.

I raised my four kids without the convenience of AF, nor IP… although, since my husband and I both work and we are now “empty-nesters”… my AF is my go-to! I mainly use it for pork roasts. They are soo deliciously juicy, tender and flavorful! My work colleagues have also gotten on the bandwagon and we share recipes all the time.
I will be trying this recipe tonight… (to compliment our pork).
Karly says
Oh, I’ll have to try a pork roast in the AF! Great idea!

OMG you sound like me!! I bought Emeril’s 6 quart air fryer on QVC at the end of January, and like you I am TOTALLY obsessed! I have used it twice this week and have used it at least once a week since I purchased it………I also purchased a 6 quart Instant Pot that…ready for this?…….I have yet to use. I am afraid of it lol!!!! I wish I had bought the air fryer first, I wouldn’t have bought the Instant Pot! Thanks for the recipe, I love how you listed oven AND making it in the air fryer on the same recipe. I will be making these! Happy Air Frying!!
Karly says
It took me awhile to get up the nerve to use my Instant Pot too! But, now that I have I’m not the least bit scared of it. I really think it’s very safe. I mostly use it for making hard boiled eggs (they peel like a dream), perfectly cooked rice, and for shredding chicken breasts to use in other recipes. I don’t regret the purchase, but I do think it’ll end up in a cabinet instead of on the counter before long. ๐
Glad you’re enjoying your air fryer! Hope you give these potatoes a try!

My AF replaced my IP in my limited counter space kitchen. I use it every day. Salmon with a touch of oil and Ol’ Bay seasoning for my DH. I make everything in it. I’ve now used my double oven only once or twice in the past month. Now, one of the ovens is my storage. These look great.
Karly says
That’s awesome!! I’ve been meaning to try salmon in my AF too. How long and what temp do you cook it at?
