This Crockpot Beer Cheese Dip with Sausage takes just 5 minutes of prep! It’s creamy, cheesy, and full of pub-style flavor that’s perfect for game day or parties!
Dump, Stir, Dip.
We have an annual tradition with our friends – Dip Night.
Everyone brings a dip to share, we all hover around the kitchen counter dipping all night long.
It’s honestly one of my favorite nights of the year.
You really can’t beat dip. It’s the perfect food and this one right here? This hot sausage beer cheese dip? Heaven. Can’t get enough.
I love how thick and creamy this one turns out and it literally couldn’t be easier. Dump everything in the slow cooker, stir it every now and then, and then grab your pretzels and start dipping.
You can use our pretzel nuggets for this one or make full size pretzels and really go to town. Also great with tortilla chips, potato chips, or pretty much anything else you can find in the pantry.
This isn’t overly beer flavored for those of you that don’t like beer. It just adds this perfect depth to the cheese. I never drink beer, but I could down a pound of beer cheese dip, you know?
♥ 3 Reasons You’ll Love This Recipe:
Crockpot convenience: Dump it, stir it, snack on it!
Versatile: You can dip just about anything with this! Would even be good spooned on top of a smash burger.
Pub-style flavor: Cheddar + beer + sausage = bar food without leaving the house!
Ingredients, Swaps, & Tips:
- Sausage: Use mild sausage if spice isn’t your thing – but this really isn’t spicy with all that cheese.
- Beer: A dark beer like stout or porter gives rich flavor, but a lager works if you want something lighter.
- Cheese: Sharp cheddar is key but mixing in a little pepper jack or smoked gouda isn’t wrong. Let’s be real – there really isn’t a wrong answer when it comes to cheese. There are no subs that I’m aware of for the cream cheese. It’s key for consistency.
- Make-ahead: Brown the sausage the day before, refrigerate, and just toss everything in the crockpot when ready!
Serving Suggestions:
Soft pretzels are the obvious (and perfect) choice but you’ve got lots of options. Make your own or try these Hawaiian pretzel bites.
Tortilla chips, crackers, or breadsticks are all good options.
Fresh veggies are another way to go. Celery sticks, bell pepper strips, or broccoli and cauliflower florets are excellent for dipping.
Or use this beer cheese dip as a topping! Pour it over fries, tater tots, or a baked potato.
Storage:
Fridge: Store leftovers in an airtight container for about 3 to 4 days.
Reheat: Warm gently in the microwave, crockpot, or stove, stirring often. Add a splash of milk or beer to loosen it back up.
Freezer: I wouldn’t recommend trying to freeze this as the texture will likely not hold up very well with the cheeses.
