Getting Personal with Archetype Me (and a Giveaway!)

Oh, people. I’m about to go so far outside my comfort zone here. I am not the type of person to stop and really think about who I am and what makes me tick. I’m the least self-aware person that I know. I mean, I guess I’m aware that I’m not self-aware, so there’s that. This is getting confusing. Let me back up.

BlogHer recently contacted me about a possible sponsored post and giveaway with ArchetypeMe and I read the guidelines. Basically I would be writing a post (this post, in fact!) about who I think I am and what makes me tick. It was a bit intriguing to me, because that’s just not something that I really ever stop to think about. So, I thought I’d go for it. I mean, it’s the New Year! Let’s get all self aware and learn who I really am!

I stopped to think about me for a moment, which is weird since I’m usually thinking about what to cook for dinner and if there are any clean socks to be found, and I tried to decide who I am. I went to the ArchetypeMe website and started checking it out. An archetype, according to the website, “is a pattern of behavior. It explains who you are and how you engage with the world around you.” The archetypes listed on their website are creative, athlete, rebel, caregiver, visionary, queen/executive, spiritual, fashionista, advocate, and intellectual.

I think I can easily count myself among the Queens. I’m just going to admit it…I’m bossy. I like to be in charge. I need to be in control. Poor husband, he never gets a say about anything.

Balloons! So creative!

After a lot of thinking, I’d also call myself creative. I struggle labeling myself as that, because when I think of creativity, I think of gorgeous drawings, colorful paintings, and lots of crafts. I’m not that type of person at all, but I can get all kinds of creative in the kitchen! Not to mention, I’m a photographer and while I don’t think I get overly creative in my photography, I do have to use a little creativity. Rebel? Oh, yes. That fits me. My husband quickly learned that it’s best not to tell me that I shouldn’t do something. It always backfires and I do it, just because I shouldn’t. I’d choose those as my top three archetypes.

I’ll be back soon with the quiz results and we’ll see how close I got! Let’s all cross our fingers that I don’t embarrass myself! In the meantime, go check out www.ArchetypeMe.com and take the quiz to find out your archetype. Discover why you are the way you are. A little self discovery is good for the soul.

When you really know who you are you have the opportunity to be happier. Because you know what you like and don’t like, what you want and don’t want.
