Apple Fritters
Do you guys know what I just realized?
It’s September. You guys know why this is exciting, right? September is when all of the good stuff returns.
By good stuff I mean Fall television. Apple picking. Cool, crisp air. Pumpkin bars. Reese’s pumpkins.
I can’t decide which I’m most excited about. Fall television is waaaaaaaay up towards the top of my list. But, then again, so are trips to the apple orchard.
These apple fritters are so simple to make. I dipped mine in some caramel sauce, but maple syrup is the more traditional route. Either way, they taste like Fall.

Apple Fritters
Ingredients:
1 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 cup peeled and diced apple
cinnamon and sugar, for rolling (1/4 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon combined)
oil, for frying
Directions:
In a deep skillet or pot, bring 2-3 inches of oil to 375 degrees over medium heat.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
Stir in the egg and milk until the batter is smooth.
Toss the diced apples in the lemon juice and add to the batter.
Stir to combine.
Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
Remove to a paper towel lined plate to drain for a few minutes.
Toss in the cinnamon and sugar mixture and serve immediately.

@Aimee @ ShugarySweets,
Peach fritters? Those are a THING? You can make fritters with any kind of fruit?? How is it that I am 30 years old and just now finding out about this?

A very real thing indeed!! Haha! We went to a peach festival a couple weeks ago and they had peach fritters and peach hand pies. I can’t get them out of my head, but had no idea how to make them! Your apple fritter recipe is a great start!
I just had someone ask me the other day if I knew how to make these. I told her that I had *heard* of them but never had eaten them….or tried to make them.
I guess I’ll have to change that! These look FABULOUS!
Apple fritters are the best part about fall! Love these!
This is one of my favorite things in the whole history of the land.
Apple Fritters are winners!!!!
Also, I am so excited for Grey’s and Parenthood I can hardly stand it.
And Revenge.
And Vampire Diaries.

@Cookbook Queen,
Oh my word. Way to rocket my excitement level up there. I was just thinking of Grey’s. Hadn’t even considered Parenthood, Revenge, or Vampire Diaries! What about American Horror Story? And Walking Dead? And Dexter! And Downton Abbey! Oh, and Homeland and Nurse Jackie!!
Did I miss anything?
Fall tv is like Christmas for me.
And Apple Fritters are like my birthday…so fall’s a winning time in my life.
I am slightly bummed to see summer go, but my excitement for fall totally outweighs it!! Apples, pumpkins, and a chance to dress up like my favorite Harry Potter character without anyone thinking I have lost my mind?? I’m in!!!! These look like an amazing way to kick off my favorite season!!
I friggin’ love fall TV with my soul. However, I’m excited for my weirdo shows to return, like Walking Dead and American Horror Story. I don’t really want to know what that says about my character.
Anywho, apple fritters. I need some! In Northern California we have what’s called “Apple Hill” which is this cluster of farms that all have apple orchards and you can go and get apples + apple-related goods, go on hay-rides, and see a bunch of old ladies hawking magnets made of prunes. Anyway, these look like something I need to make to remind me of Apple Hill, without all the prune magnets.
I’m pretty excited to eat all of your fall recipes while watching fall television! I’m thinking these would go perfectly with a side of Grey’s Anatomy premiere.
Reese’s Pumpkins. YES!!!!!!! And candy corn. And pumpkin scented candles. and Halloween (!!!) and apple pie. and apple fritters. OMG. I love you.
ahh! you’re getting me so pumped for fall!
these are one of my favorite “donuts” yummmmmmmm!
Yum! If I wasn’t excited about the fall, I am now! These look absolutely delicious!
Fall foods are seriously the best!
I’m totally with you on Fall television — but apple and pumpkin baked goods are right up there too. These look AMAZING! Can’t wait to try!
Yes, yes, yes to all things fall related. Bring on those reeses pumpkins and candy corn…and cool temps and colored leaves. I am ready for it all!!! Fritters are on my list of things I want to try making one of these days. Yours are so sugary coated and I think that’s what I love the most:-)
I want these in such a serious way. I’ve always heard of them but have never had one!
I always look forward to Fall, LOVE it!
This includes the new t.v. shows, weather ~ beautiful Fall colors and especially all the FOOD!!!
I’m a thinkin’ these sweet little bits of yumminess will be a fav at our house this weekend!
Thanks for another great recipe!
yum fall!!! can’t wait to try it
Yum… apple fritters and some hot apple cider… can’t wait for fall!!!
What kind of apples are the best to use for this recipe?
I need those fritters! Just right size for plucking into my mouth. One.. two.. three fritters I’d be chewing on. And then a fourth, of course.
these were yummy! although we don’t have a thermometer or a deep fryer so getting the oil to the right temperature was the hardest part. we also thought the batter needed a little more cinnamon sugar, to add more flavor.
