If you’re looking for fun things to do with kids and the whole family, this s’mores party is so much fun!
We’ve started a new family tradition in our house and I’ve been dying to share it with you!
Saturday Night S’mores Party!
After dinner every Saturday night, someone will realize what night it is and shout out, “Do you know what time it is?” Everyone immediately knows the answer and shouts back “Saturday Night S’mores Party!” We live for Saturday night s’mores!
This is such an inexpensive way to have fun with your family and every. single. person will enjoy it, no matter how young or old! Of course, the younger kids might need a little help, but that’s okay!
There are two ways to go about this – fancy or cheap! We went the cheap route and I’ll show you how!
You’ll need a little cast iron hibachi grill. These things are PERFECT for roasting marshmallows! Not to mention, they’re totally easy to use. You’ll also want a wooden cutting board to put under the grill, just to be sure you don’t burn your table.
Now, you’ll need some fuel to burn and we’ve found this Swissmar Fire Gel is our favorite. It’s easy to use and, while the bottle might seem a little expensive, it’ll last quite a while. We’re not even halfway through the bottle and we’ve had 4 s’mores party nights with it so far. How much you use will definitely depend on how many people will be roasting marshmallows and how many marshmallows they plan to roast. The grill has enough room for 4 people to roast marshmallows at once. We’re piggies, so we usually do two rounds of marshmallows. We fill the grill about 1/3 full to have enough gel to burn through two rounds of roasting. If the gel does burn out, we just carefully remove the grate with a hot pad and squirt some more in and then light it. It’s so simple!
Oh, and don’t forget to pick up a pack of roasting sticks! I use the roasting sticks for the marshmallows, obviously, but I also use them for lighting the fire gel. I light the end of the stick with a lighter and then I can put the stick down through the grate of the grill and into the gel. It’s easier and doesn’t make me as nervous as sticking the lighter down in there.
I don’t know what is the most fun part – the marshmallow sword fighting that inevitably takes place, the shouts of “yours is on fire! blow, blow, blow!”, or the part where we’re all shoving melty marshmallows in our faces!
We all laugh so much and really connect with each other. It’s a great way to get the teen away from his video games and the tween away from her iPad.
We usually keep Reese’s and Hershey’s on hand to use in our s’mores, but we just tried it with some Reese’s spread (don’t buy it from Amazon…the spread is cheaper at Walmart) and holy cow. So good! Soooooo good. Nutella or Biscoff would be great, too!
I think your whole family will love this!

Oh my gosh… I love Saturday S’mores night idea. I can’t wait for Ryder to get older so I can start this tradition with him. And that little cast iron hibachi is too cool!

I love this! We make s’mores in our fireplace. Fire hazard, probably– so this is the perfect solution!!

I’m in love with this! After discovering s’mores not that many ago, I just couldn’t get enough of them. Gotta make up for the lost time. I make them under the broiler all the time, but this is genius especially for entertaining:)

I love this idea! My 2 little ones have Jan/Feb birthday and never get to do the fun, summer activities all their June-July-Aug. friends do. I.E. Bounce houses!!! My 4-year-old actually thinks it’s reasonable to rent a bounce house to bring inside. Um, no. I guess that’s why there’s adults! This s’mores party idea would be a blast, great thinking!

Ooh, that would make such a fun kid’s party! I might have to grab a couple more of these to do for my daughter’s December birthday! Great idea. 🙂
