This white queso dip recipe is pulled together with just three ingredients! Mexican white cheese dip is a favorite in our house and I think it will be in yours too.
Cut or tear the cheese slices into quarters and place in the bottom of a medium sauce pan. Add the milk and turn the heat to medium low.
Whisk constantly, being careful to scrape the bottom so as not to burn the cheese. Reduce the heat if needed to prevent the cheese from burning. Continue whisking until the cheese has fully melted into a smooth sauce.
Sprinkle in the taco seasoning, whisk well, and serve immediately.
Cheese will begin to thicken as it cools. You can stir in more milk to make for a thinner consistency as it cools or you can reheat as needed.
Notes
You'll want to purchase the cheese from the deli counter. You don't want the individually wrapped white American cheese for this one.We like the little boost of flavor that the taco seasoning adds to this white queso, but you can leave it out entirely or swap it for something like a sprinkle of cumin or a dash of Cholula hot sauce. Be careful not to burn the sauce as you're cooking. Stir constantly over a fairly low heat for the best results.Keep in mind that this dip will thicken as it cools. You can add in additional milk to make for a more runny cheese sauce as it's cooking and it will thicken up to a nice consistency after it's placed in a bowl and set on the table.
