Thick, fudgy, and dense chocolate cookies are topped off with a boiled chococolate frosting. These are like little bites of Texas sheet cake that are perfect for sharing with friends and family!
Mix together the cake mix, eggs, and oil with an electric mixer until well combined.
Use a medium cookie scoop to drop scoops of cookie dough 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet.
Place the cookie sheet in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to chill.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Bake cookies for 8 minutes or until cookies are just set.
Remove from the oven and immediately start making the frosting.
For the frosting
Add the sugar, butter, and milk to a small sauce pan over medium heat and stir often until the butter has fully melted and the mixture has come to a boil.
Boil for 60 seconds exactly and remove from the heat.
Add the chocolate chips to the pan and stir until the chocolate has melted and the frosting is smooth.
Pour the frosting over the cookies evenly and allow to set for at least 30 minutes before removing from the baking sheet.

Notes
Chilling the dough will help prevent the cookies from spreading during baking. This recipe originally called for just one egg and the recipe does work that way, but we've done some more testing and like these best with two eggs. The recipe was updated to reflect that change.
