Big Mac Sloppy Joes

We put a little twist on the classic sloppy joes and skipped the sweet tomato sauce in favor of Big Mac sauce! These sandwiches are so much better than the drive-thru version and quick to make.

Ingredients

For the meat mixture:

  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • ½ medium onion finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon cracked pepper

For the Mac sauce:

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup dill relish
  • 1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

For the sandwiches:

  • 6 sesame seed buns see notes
  • 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 12 dill pickle chips

Instructions

To make the meat mixture:

  • Add the ground beef, onion, and garlic to a skillet over medium heat. Cook, stirring often to break up the meat, until meat has cooked through. Drain any excess grease from the skillet.
  • Season the mixture with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Remove from the heat.

To make the Mac sauce:

  • Add all of the ingredients to a bowl and stir well to combine.

To make the sandwiches:

  • Stir 1/2 cup of Mac sauce into the meat mixture to combine.
  • Place ¼ cup of shredded lettuce on the bottom half of each bun. Top with a slice of cheese.
  • Spoon the meat mixture over the top of the cheese.
  • Drizzle a spoonful of Mac sauce over the meat on each sandwich, to taste.
  • Top each sandwich with 3 pickles and the top bun.
  • Serve hot.

Notes

Three Buns: The classic Big Mac has 3 pieces of bun. We skip that middle bun, but you can feel free to add it. Just use two bottom pieces of buns and one top piece per sandwich. Layer the sandwich with bottom bun, sauce, lettuce, cheese, meat, bottom bun, sauce, lettuce, cheese, meat, pickles, and finish with the top bun.
Sauce: You may not want the full amount of sauce. Any leftovers will store in the fridge, covered, for up to a week. It also makes a great dip for french fries.
