Toffee Streusel Chocolate Donuts

Obviously we can't talk coffee without donuts. I mean, the two just belong together. That's why I keep coming up with coffee-enhanced treats.

Ingredients

For the donuts:
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 6 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
For the toffee streusel:
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup toffee bits

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a small bowl, beat together the vanilla, egg, sour cream, milk, and oil.
  4. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry until just combined.
  5. Spoon batter into a greased donut pan.
  6. To make the streusel, cut together the flour, sugar, and butter until you have small, pea-sized balls of butter.
  7. Stir in the toffee bits.
  8. Sprinkle the streusel over the tops of the donuts.
  9. Bake for 8 minutes or until the tops spring back when you touch them.
  10. Let the donuts cool in the pan until cool enough to handle.
