Preparing for Summer Vacation & Slim Fast 3-2-1
This is a sponsored review from BlogHer and Slim·Fast.
It’s coming, y’all. Swim suit season.
Please forgive me for being a bad influence and posting all these yummy chocolate recipes. I just can’t help myself.
My “summer” vacation will be here in just a week or two. I’m heading out to the Bahamas with my husband and two very excited children. We’re going on a cruise and we can not wait! Unfortunately, I totally failed in my mission to lose some weight before I have to wear a swimsuit.
Lucky me, I have another chance…I’m taking a girls’ trip with my mama, my aunt, and my cousin to sunny Gulf Shores, Alabama at the beginning of May.
I have big plans to lose a few ten twenty lotsa pounds before our girls’ trip.
How, you might be wondering, do I plan on doing that if I’m going to be blogging a bunch of ridiculously fattening and delicious desserts in the meantime?
Eh, I don’t really do anything super fancy or difficult. I’m a calorie counter. I usually start out the first week of my “get skinny before I wear a swimsuit” diet with just limiting calories. Sometimes it goes well, and sometimes it results in me diving face first in to something like this:
Either way, I track the calories which keeps me aware. I like to use Tap & Track (a free iPhone app) to track everything.
The second week is when I add in the exercise. I like to take it slow and ease into the whole diet thing…get that first calorie counting week out of the way before I add in the exercise. And, yes, I realize that I should exercise every day, regardless of an impending vacation, but I don’t. Exercise is evil and bad. Duh.
So, basically, my get slim plan include lots of breakfast smoothies (skim milk, ice, banana, strawberries, and spinach), carrot sticks dipped in light ranch dip, handful upon handful of mixed nuts (high in calories, but they fill you up and make you happy), baked potatoes topped with salsa, and steamed broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower tossed in lemon pepper seasoning. Then I flail around for 20 minutes or so in my living room each evening after my husband leaves for work (he’s a third-shifter). There are some things that he just does not need to see and me “exercising” is one of them. Trust me on that.
