My Dream Fridge

A few years ago I was shopping for couches and I happened to wander over into the appliance section of the store. I have a thing for appliances. Just ask my husband, he’ll tell you. Be prepared to bleep him out, though. He doesn’t share my love of purchasing new appliances for some reason. Men are weird, y’all.

Anyway, in the refrigerator section I found a (gasp) refrigerator. That’s not all, though. There was a screen built right into the door. A screen that allowed you to do internety things. I died. My husband drug me back to the couches. The end.

Then I was contacted by BlogHer and Samsung and asked to write about Samsung 4-Door LCD Refrigerator with Apps. I may have thought for a teensy second that I was being asked to KEEP and LOVE and CHERISH FOREVER a Samsung 4-Door LCD Refrigerator with Apps of my very own, but alas. I was just asked to talk about the fridge. Which, let’s be honest, isn’t as awesome as owning the fancy fridge, but is still fun. As I said, appliances are my thing. I like them.

So, let’s talk. About a fridge. That does Internety things. Imagine how cool it would be to have photos on your fridge – the digital kind. No more photos stuck all willy nilly everywhere you look. How about the family calendar? I don’t know what yours looks like, but mine is kinda ridiculous. It’d be so awesome to use a free Google calendar right there on your fridge! Not only would it be awesome, but you could check the calendar from work or your phone or from the living room couch where you just might be stuck underneath your laptop reading blogs! So convenient, right? How about reading tweets right there in the kitchen? Love. Listening to music or watching videos while cooking? Yes and yes. Please.

The best part, though, would be the recipes. How convenient would it be to just pull up a recipe on the door of your fridge? No more printing them out and darting to and from the computer to check the recipe. I actually bring my laptop into the kitchen while I’m cooking rather than wasting paper printing recipes, but I’m always so scared that I’m going to spill something on it. (Another thing my husband doesn’t love as much as me? Computer shopping.)

Basically this Samsung 4-Door LCD Refrigerator with Apps would make life awesome. It would be so efficient, shiny, sparkly, and FUN! And, yes, you had better believe I am forwarding the link to this post to my husband. (Love you, Husband. You’re looking mighty cute today.)

Now, if Samsung could only create a washer/dryer combo that not only washes and dries without needing moved from one machine to another, but also folded the laundry I’d be in heaven. Seriously, can you image what a time saver that would be?

How about you? What’s your dream appliance? Leave a comment telling me what kind of fancy futuristic appliances you’d like to see and you could win a $100 Best Buy gift card! The contest runs from 7/25/11 through 8/19/11.
