Because I Am Addicted To The Internet – Symantec Identity Safe {Giveaway!}

So, I don’t know about you, but I happen to like the Internet. Kind of a lot.

Here are my details: 2 blogs, 1 website, 1 personal Facebook account, 2 Facebook pages, 2 Pinterest accounts, 2 Twitter accounts, LinkedIn, Google+, and what am I forgetting? Forums that I’m a member of, banking sites, PayPal, eBay, Amazon, the list just keeps going on forever and ever, Amen.

I share those details with you so that you can get an idea of just how many passwords my brain is currently holding on to. Every month when I go to pay my credit card bill I panic just a little bit. Is it this password? Nope, must be this other one. Oh, wait, try this.

It’s frustrating and ridiculous and sometimes it makes me cry like a little baby.

Needless to say, I was thrilled when I was chosen to write about Norton Identity Safe. It’s a password manager, y’all. And it’s by Norton so I feel pretty safe using it.

Not only that, but it remembers the information that you fill out again and again at various websites, like your address, name, and phone number. All of those things that you type again and again and again until your fingers turn to bloody stumps.

It even manages your credit cards, you guys. Do you know what this means? It means that the next time I go to purchase something I won’t just decide at the last minute that I don’t really want it anymore because my purse is all the way across the room and I still haven’t memorized my credit card number. Just think of all the packages I’ll be having delivered!

I’ve been slowly but surely adding every single password I have to Norton Identity Safe and letting it do it’s magic. It’s amazing how much less frustrating this whole Internet thing has been these last few days. I didn’t realize how stressful it was trying to keep up with all of the passwords I had, but not worrying about it has been sorta awesome.

If you’d like to make your life a little more awesome too, head over to the Norton Identity Safe website and download the product FOR FREE. Yes, I said free.

Oh, and if you’re into free things, how about sharing a story about a time you forgot or lost a password and you’ll have a chance to win one of five Android Tablets (Samsung Galaxy Tab 2- 10.1-Inch, Wi-Fi) with Norton Mobile Security and Identity Safe installed! Just leave your story in a comment below and you’ll be entered in the sweepstakes.

I can NEVER remember my ebay password. I am constantly having to request a change almost every single time I use ebay. Doh!

Right after starting a new job, I forgot my password for the online retirement fund, had to get the number from HR, and spend 30 minutes on the phone resetting it. Great job, me, for making a fine impression at a new office.

Once, I forgot the password to my messaging system. I ended up getting locked out and had to call customer service to reset my password.

I had all my passwords written in a safe little notebook. My 19 month old flushed it down the toilet. Could have really used you Norton.

I have forgotten my passwords more times than I’d like to remember as well as getting
Locked out of my accounts and having to call and reset them, and then having to remember the password
I gave when I set up the account ( like that’s going to happen!)

oh gosh, at work we have a super secure internet system that i rarely use… but when i need to i can never seem to remember my ~15 digit password of random numbers and letters (boo!). not only that, i usually forget where i have it written down, so i always end up calling tech support every time i need to google something… they must love me :)

Sympathize with all your Internet password needs. Add to that about a dozen work passwords all on changing schedules. On one of our systems they wanted to go to an automated password re-set so they had us fill out an online questionnaire of about 30 questions. Of course that was done years ago so when I needed to re-set my password I couldn’t remember the answers I had used (ah dude, my favorite book CHANGES all the time because I am a reader).

I used to work at a job that required me to change my passwords every so many months. I would get totally lost trying to remember them for all the different programs!

I try and have the same password to EVERYTHING. When one needs changed I make a new one very similar to the one I already use. Well that always causes a problem because I forget what I change the new ones too. I started writing them down at work but when I go home, I forget and I hate it. It happens to me all the time.

I forgot my password for my computer at work one day – I seriously use this thing 5 days a week and one day it was just GONE. The funnier thing is that it’s totally easy to remember because it’s my employee ID number. How embarassing is it to walk into HR and say “yeah, I forgot my password, can you look it up for me?” and have the HR assistant look at me like I’m nuts and go “it’s your employee number.” Somewhere between “I know,” and “really, I forgot it. Can you look it up?” The look changed from ‘you’re nuts’ to ‘wow, you’re really pathetic.’

For everything else I use one of three passwords, and I do change them periodically. I try to keep them “themed” though, so I’ll remember them.

I have several passwords that I use and user names. Thank god that I have Norton on my computer, they help me remember all of them. Before I would have to write them down and of course I would lose the paper. It was really frustrating when I changed my passwords. I love my Norton antivirus and your Blog.

I only forget one of my passwords. It’s the one that is my zipcode. For real. Whatever. Someone else to remember things would be nice. But I seriously can’t believe you haven’t memorized your credit card number yet. That’s just plain Crazy! ;^)

I was trying to log in to stop a paid subscription we had but I had forgotten my password. The only way to retrieve this particular one was by calling from the phone number you had on account. The problem? We had moved and had no access to said phone number. It was a nightmare, but if I had this I would’ve been fine!

I’m just happy that I’m not alone….in not remembering and have to reset my passwords every month. I think I have at least 50 different accounts that require passwords and some that I don’t log-in often enough, I just have to re-set the passwords every single time. Quite frustrating when you are in a rush trying to get things done. This sounds like the perfect product for me.

I probably am the most unsafe person in the world since I use the same passcode for about everything. My poor memory cannot handle user id’s and passwords for everything. And nowadays you need to create a user id and password for just about every site you visit.

I change my pswd like every two months and keep in my pocket note. Not to mention when I lost my purse, I can’t even log into my daily email account! It was totally a tragedy to miss important appointments. Then I had to wait for a week after several processes to get a new account/pswd.

I find it frustrating when websites have crazy rules for your passwords, like must be 10 letters/number, include 1 capital, 1 symbol, and 1 number….I can never remember that when I go back to the website when I try to get in and my usual password variations don’t work. I hate it when they block you out after 3 trys too!!

I admit I’m one of those people who tends to use the same password for too many different sites–not a good idea I know. My husband was trying to apply for a hunting license just last night and couldn’t remember his password, or even his user name or the email account he had used at the site before. We finally gave up and started a brand new account. This Norton Identity Safe is something we both need to install–pronto!
