Because I Am Addicted To The Internet – Symantec Identity Safe {Giveaway!}
So, I don’t know about you, but I happen to like the Internet. Kind of a lot.
Here are my details: 2 blogs, 1 website, 1 personal Facebook account, 2 Facebook pages, 2 Pinterest accounts, 2 Twitter accounts, LinkedIn, Google+, and what am I forgetting? Forums that I’m a member of, banking sites, PayPal, eBay, Amazon, the list just keeps going on forever and ever, Amen.

I share those details with you so that you can get an idea of just how many passwords my brain is currently holding on to. Every month when I go to pay my credit card bill I panic just a little bit. Is it this password? Nope, must be this other one. Oh, wait, try this.
It’s frustrating and ridiculous and sometimes it makes me cry like a little baby.
Needless to say, I was thrilled when I was chosen to write about Norton Identity Safe. It’s a password manager, y’all. And it’s by Norton so I feel pretty safe using it.
Not only that, but it remembers the information that you fill out again and again at various websites, like your address, name, and phone number. All of those things that you type again and again and again until your fingers turn to bloody stumps.
It even manages your credit cards, you guys. Do you know what this means? It means that the next time I go to purchase something I won’t just decide at the last minute that I don’t really want it anymore because my purse is all the way across the room and I still haven’t memorized my credit card number. Just think of all the packages I’ll be having delivered!
I’ve been slowly but surely adding every single password I have to Norton Identity Safe and letting it do it’s magic. It’s amazing how much less frustrating this whole Internet thing has been these last few days. I didn’t realize how stressful it was trying to keep up with all of the passwords I had, but not worrying about it has been sorta awesome.
If you’d like to make your life a little more awesome too, head over to the Norton Identity Safe website and download the product FOR FREE. Yes, I said free.
Oh, and if you’re into free things, how about sharing a story about a time you forgot or lost a password and you’ll have a chance to win one of five Android Tablets (Samsung Galaxy Tab 2- 10.1-Inch, Wi-Fi) with Norton Mobile Security and Identity Safe installed! Just leave your story in a comment below and you’ll be entered in the sweepstakes.

There was one time that I thought I had forgotten the password for my federal loans account and I flipped out thinking I was going to have to register for a new PIN (which was a very involved process at the time). Luckily I was just being dumb and was entering something incorrectly. Never had I been more happy to realize I was being an idiot!

I try to use the same, strong password for as many accounts and logins as I possibly can so that I only have to remember one! With the restrictions and character requirements that some passwords have to have, it’s just easier to make one that satisfies all the options and use that. I had to register for various accounts multiple times because I forgot the password so this new strategy has seemed to work well for me!
I forgot a password just yesterday…a very necessary one related to work. Keep in mind that I have several passwords just for work alone. I have 4 systems I need to log into, all with different passwords plus my personnel password, plus my site password and that is just for work! Then all the passwords for my personal stuff – FB, emails, websites etc. I don’t know if it was the heat (excessive heat warnings in our area – hot AND humid) or if it was because I was in such a hurry and the password was needed NOW! After a couple of tries (tried the same one twice in case I typed it in wrong) I then “let my fingers go” and typed in the correct password (I find if I ignore what I “think” it “should” be and just let my mind type in what it actually IS – I do a lot better at “finding” my “lost” password). That time it worked, but still, it was a little embarrassing as someone else needed access and was waiting for me to remember my password! It made me think that there has to be a better way and I swear you read my mind – because the next day I read here that there IS! Thanks SO much (and thank Norton as well for having this handy program). As a victim of ID theft, having a safe place for information is truly a load off my mind…and a lot less passwords to remember too!

Ugh, I ALWAYS forget my credit card password, but ESPECIALLY my Victoria’s Secret Angel card password. Without fail, every month, I am greeted with an email “PAY US, WOMAN” and must go pay my credit card. And per the norm, without fail, I sit staring at my screen for a stupid amount of time, typing in one of the multiple passwords I have because apparently I’m a sadistic jokester and like to make myself fail. And every time, I get locked out because they think I’m some panty-stealing thief trying to break in. It’s stupid crazy. Panties should make me happy, not make me angry. Now I hope I win one of these so my panties won’t get all twisted when I forget AGAIN!
I mostly use the same password, or a version of it, but if anything ever happened to me my husband would be in big trouble. He’d be in for a real mess trying to get everything reset.
For work I had access to a special database. I set it all up, got the information I needed and then forgot about it… until a few months later when I needed to access it again and of course I had no clue what my password was! Instead of being able to figure this out online I actually had to call someone, tell them I lost my password and get a temporary one… which I promptly lost AGAIN and had to awkwardly call the man back again. I would LOVE something that organized it all for me!!
We had an older desktop computer I let my middle age school kids use and my daughter put an administrative password on it and forgot what it was. Not being very computer savvy at the time, we just ditched the computer. Sad. At least it was old!
I tweeted this. https://twitter.com/HippieDogCo/status/215833922754461698
I have sooo many accounts and passwords for home and 2 jobs. I brain hurts trying to remember them all, especially those that were set up by others. I’ve been thinking that ‘someone should come up with a way to keep track of all these usernames and passwords” and here it is. Can’t wait to try it!
I am a teacher and I have about a million different logins for all of the different programs we have to use at school. Once I was headed to a meeting about a student’s progress and I couldn’t remember my password to go into the site with all of his data! I was so embarrassed!
I ALWAYS decide not to purchase something online purely because my purse is in another room and I am too lazy to get it! This would be sooo helpful for me and I’m sure my husband would appreciate all the lovely things I will be able to buy for me… i mean him!
The password I’m always forgetting is the one to log into the timekeeping system at work. Not a password you’d like to forget, since it’s kinda necessary to get paid every month. I actually have to keep that password locked up in a hiding spot at my desk, because I’ve gotten frozen out of the account too many times for guessing the wrong password.
This one is particularly embarrassing–I, for the life of me, could not remember the code to access my phone messages at work. A number that I used everyday for 6 years—gone! I had to call our help desk and get everything reset.
Karly those links are broken – just fyi. I NEED a product like this and am off to google it. I cannot keep all my passwords straight…ever! And end up locking myself out of sites!
I have several – but the most embarrassing ones usually resulted in so many incorrect password attempts that I was locked out of my account and had to call customer service!! (Banks especially get very cranky, and basically ask for your first born child in return for resetting your password/looking it up)!!
I think I’ve had too many stories to even list. The one that happens most often though, is one of the passwords for my student loan online stuff. I NEVER remember it. And I write it down so I don’t forget it. And then I lose the note. Ugh. This happens a lot. This product sounds awesome! Great giveaway…thanks for the chance!

This giveaway is wonderful!
I am always forgetting my passwords! And, like many others have been commenting, I’ve lost my FAFSA pin more times than I care to count.
I’ve also forgotten answers to my security questions, especially the ones that ask for your favorite of anything. You’d think I would be able to remember my own favorite TV show, but apparently not!
I moved 2 hours away from my hometown but luckily they had online banking so I was using that to pay my car payment. Well I got down to $20 in that account so I started writing checks for about a year from the new bank I was using. One day I got a statement that I had, oh $17, which was a surprise because I hadn’t used it in over a year: it’s my money so I wanted it! I tried to log into my banking account but I simply COULD NOT remember my password for the life of me. I’m awful so all my passwords are usually the same for most anything but some require more characters than others etc. so this one was different. Well, I ended up having to drive 2 hours to get my $17 dollars because they wouldn’t put it towards my car payment over the phone!
We used to use versions of our dog’s names for various passwords. One day when we were between dogs, my husband emailed me asking for a certain password. I emailed him back “dead dog”. He emailed back to me that the words dead dog didn’t work. Of course not – I meant the name of the dead dog – I wasn’t about to email him the actual password!!!

Mostly the same password .
What an awesome giveaway! Okay so for my lost password story – I had just reset the modem since it was acting up and I had logged in no problem thereafter. Then Jason came home visiting and he had to enter the wifi username and password again since the modem was reset but when I gave him my password, it wasn’t working. I started freaking out and claimed that AT&T support had changed my password. 1 week later I realized that I changed the password from my phone number to my name. Oops.
So I am that person that chooses one password for multiple sies. Not too long ago there was a security breach at LinkedIn which leaked some people’s accounts and passwords. So my story is less about forgetting the password, but more about security. Because I used that e-mail and password for virtually every site, I had to go back and change my password for like 20 accounts. I’m sure I’ll have a good lost password story in a few weeks.
I always forget passwords since I do several combinations of the same password. Recently I was convinced my legal research database had messed up, but when I went to look at the place where I have the password written down it turned out I had used an exclamation point instead of a question mark. Sometimes I think I should scrap all my passwords and just have a master one.
My mom uses a password protected excel file with all her passwords for various logins. She forgot that password for 2 days.
I ALWAYS pick passwords I think there is no way I can forget & I fight my way through more reset passwords than I want to think and have to every time I want to log on to some sites because I forget them so much!
I have to write my passwords down at work and keep them in a secret place at my desk! Otherwise there are just too many to remember. At home, I have a tendency to use the same password for several things. I know that’s not very wise so maybe I will try the password manager! When I forget my password, it’s always when I have the least amount of time to deal with it and I become oh so frustrated! The most frustrating time was when I couldn’t remember my password at the ATM. I had to call a number and talk to someone who told me how to reset my password using the ATM. I thought I wasn’t going to be able to use the machine!
Awesome giveaway! It’s probably completely counter-productive, but I keep my passwords in a word document….called “passwords” I’d be a hacker’s dream come true.
ugh– i feel like i waste so much time trying to remember which password i used for what
I don’t have just one password forgetting story… I forget it all the time!! I have a handful of different passwords I use for everything, so it is always fun trying to go through them all and figure out which ones log me into which sites! I especially hate websites that want crazy passwords like 16 letters, 3 numbers, special characters, one capital letter, etc. It drives me insane! How can I ever remember something like that?!
I also did the alternate form of entry!
I have a few go to passwords that I tend to use regularly. The only time I have forgotten is when a particular site requires a password to have at least one capitalized letter and one number. After a few times, I usually remember, lol.

i do this….like every week. for most things, i remember my passwords, but for one site for paying a bill, i can NEVER remember. Ever. it’s sad that month to month, i forget. every time.

Yesterday I was trying to register for Skype, and it requires your facebook password. Can’t remember it since I choose to stay logged in. Needless to say, I didn’t get to finish my Skype registration.
Several years ago My husband had some pretty bad health issues and while he was sick I was using his Facebook account to keep his friends updated on his illness. Of course one time I was trying to log into my fb account and was actually in his account so when I tried to enter my password I was frozen out of his account. Now he is well again but cannot use his fb account. Facebook wants him to send his driver license via email and my husband being very security conscious will not give anybody his personal information, needless to say he is sick of Facebook but cannot even close the account.
Every since I had a baby 18 months ago, I am completely scatter brained and cannot remember a thing. On more than one occasion, I have been at the gas station and cannot remember the pin to my debit card. I feel so dumb when this happens and usually just have to switch over to a credit card without a pin.
I also use a pretty secure password on for lots of things. I get into trouble when I have to reset my work password. I think its every 6 months but could be every 4. It becomes easy to forget and hard to come up with new ones. There’s always a panic the first day back from vacation trying to remember what it is!
The trouble with me is I have one pAssword I use for nearly everything.. Problem is… If someone knows it , they pretty much have access to my whole life.. Second problem is, if for ome reason I cant use my goto password, I will most of the time lock myself out cues I can’t remember what other password I could have possibly used… I think I need to work on that

About every few weeks I’ll be in a meeting at work requiring me to use the projector/computer … sometimes I forget my password and have to run back to my desk to find it (leaving everyone waiting on me to get the meeting started)!
All the time at work! Passwords have to be changed every few months, and there are always a million requirements for making a new one. I completely blanked one time and almost got locked out of my account…luckily, I recovered at the last minute! Would have been a nightmare for sure.
I think I’ve forgotten my Paypal password immediately every time after I reset it.
I did write it down, but I forgot where I put the piece of paper…
*D’oy*
I tried to get into my phone account online and yep – I forgot the password! I called they sent it to me via Text and I had it correct, except one letter was suppose to be capitalized and I forgot that! UGH!
Oh yes I have forgotten my password! I am glad to know that there are others too! I am a nurse at our local hospital and after I got report, I started to give my meds. Well I tried anyway! I forgot my password and had to call the company who does our computer systems for them to change it! It was a big mess! It took forever! I am glad that my fellow nursing team stepped in to help pass out meds! It was a horrible experience!
I tweeted this giveaway. https://mobile.twitter.com/keshakeke/status/216336937894686720
I finally broke down and made a word document with every login and password! When we evacuated for Katrina, it really opened our eyes as to everything we needed to survive these days. For months after the storm mail here was spotty at best so we had to pay our bills online, or risk cancellations, cut offs, etc. Crazy! So we made the file and have since taken it with us (and the computer) now every time we evacuate (ok the one time we have evacuated since). However if that paper gets in the wrong hands we are in big, huge trouble!
We have to change our passwords at work every 6 weeks and can’t use any word that we’ve previously used. I have a hard enough time remembering my passwords for everything else but trying to remember my password at work can be painful and include multiple calls to the I.T. department (because I’ve already used up all my guesses and they have to reset.).
