Hot Fudge Fluffernutter Banana Bread
You know how some people substitute applesauce for oil in recipes?
I’m clearly not one of those people.
I took a perfectly good, healthful-ish banana bread recipe and I did all sorts of crazy things to it. Things that are quite possibly illegal.
I got it in my head to make a Hot Fudge and Peanut Butter Banana Bread. Sounds good, right? Then I reached for the peanut butter and my hand knocked into the jar of Fluff and sent it flying out of the cabinet.
It was a sign, you guys. Probably from Jesus himself.
I slathered my bread slices in extra peanut butter, but I think some warm hot fudge sauce would make a great topping.

Hot Fudge Fluffernutter Banana Bread
Ingredients:
1 cup mashed bananas
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 1/4 cups white sugar
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup hot fudge sauce, warmed
1/2 cup marshmallow fluff, warmed
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Spray a 9x5 loaf pan with cooking spray.
Beat together the banana, eggs, oil, buttermilk, and peanut butter.
Stir together the sugar, flour, salt, and baking soda. Add to the banana mixture and stir until just combined.
Pour half of the mixture into the prepared loaf pan. Pour half of the hot fudge and fluff evenly over the banana mixture and swirl with a knife.
Pour the remaining banana mixture in the pan and top with the remaining hot fudge and fluff. Swirl with a knife.
Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until a cake tester comes out clean.

Seeing as how I’m totally the girl who put reese’s into her banana bread last week (and then ate the remaining 11 oz of them that were in the bag)…I’m not an applesauce-for-oil kinda gal either. And I’m totally an add fluff to everything one. Loving this.
This looks AMAZING! I lovvvee everything Fluffernutter!
banana bread, fluff, chocolate.
AMAZING combo right there.
random question, what program do you use to “write” on your images? I just blogged about this question because picnik is closing and I dont use flickr/picassa (another uploading step)…was just curious what your go-to is.

Averie, I use Photoshop CS5. Photoshop Elements would probably be all that you need, though.
Oh I’m totally that applesauce for oil girl…then I’d add yummy “junk” like you just did. Cause that applesauce is totally going to cancel out the fluff/pb/chocolate/12lbs of sugar.
Pretty sure I should’ve had this alongside of my pb cup banana muffin this morning.
OH. EM. GEE. I love how versatile banana bread is. I never would’ve thought to add fluffenutter to it—brilliant!
Girl, you may just cure my peanut butter aversion. And I’m totally not an applesauce for oil kind of girl. When I do bake, I BAKE. Bring on the butter. And other stuff…
BRILLIANT!!!! You are genius for such a creation Karly! YUMMY!
When you say “swirl” do you mean swirl like marble or swirl on the surface?
Also, you have completely cured my aversion to the peanut butter/banana combo.
Thanks for the report back..I have CS5 AND Elements on my computer…and always end up back with Lightroom
But thanks for reminding me that I need to figure out my Photoshop programs
Yeah, I’m notorious for taking a Cooking LIght recipe and turning it into anything BUT light. Oh well… This banana bread is genius!
Oh my this is purely diabolical! Evil! Love it! For sure gonna try this one this weekend!
I am leaving the computer to make this right now.
So I went to make this tonight (see above) but I stopped and looked and there is no leavening. Is that correct? Or is there supposed to be baking soda/powder somewhere in there?

Ah, Hannah, I’m sorry! That should have 1 teaspoon of baking soda added with the dry ingredients!
Awesome! I’ll now hop to it.
i was thinking i might name my first child fluffernutter, it’s such a fun word. hmm, perhaps my next pet instead.
banana bread+chocolate+peanut butter?!? yes please! three times yes!
wish I could grab that slice with more peanut butter on it. MMm
This is evil and wonderful and perfect all at the same time. I can’t wait to try this. Is it bad I’m tempted to throw chocolate chips in there…?
Okay, I googled “fluffernutter banana bread” and this came up. I think THIS was a sign from Jesus himself.
